A vest is the most useful shape in a dog wardrobe because it leaves the legs completely free. Dogs that refuse hoodies and jackets will usually accept a vest, and it covers the chest and back where warmth actually matters. Getting the size right

Measure chest girth at the widest point behind the front legs with two fingers under the tape, and back length from the neck base to the tail base. Check both against the chart on the product page and size up if your dog falls between two sizes.

Why dogs accept vests more easily

Most refusal comes from restricted front legs, not from the clothing itself. A vest has no sleeves, so the shoulder joint moves normally and the dog stops noticing it within minutes. If your dog has rejected everything else, start here.

Is a vest warm enough for winter?

A padded vest is enough for mild cold or as a layer. For wind, rain or real cold, use a jacket with full body coverage.
