Formal dog wear exists almost entirely for events: weddings, parties, holiday photos and announcements. That changes what matters. The dog wears it once, for a few hours, in a room full of people, so comfort over a short window and how it photographs both count more than durability.

Full tuxedo or bow tie?

• A collar bow tie or a bandana-style tie is what most dogs will actually tolerate through a whole event. It reads clearly in photos and the dog forgets it is there.
• A full tuxedo or suit photographs better and suits calm, clothing-experienced dogs. If your dog has never worn clothing, an event is the wrong place to start.

Planning for a wedding

Order at least three weeks out and try it on immediately, so there is time to exchange a size. Do two or three short practice sessions at home in the week before. On the day, put it on shortly before photos rather than hours ahead, and bring a backup bow tie in case the full outfit comes off.

Fit

Measure chest girth and back length and compare against the product chart. Formal cuts are more structured than a sweater, so there is less give: if your dog is between sizes, size up, and check that the front legs move freely before the event rather than on the day.
