Fitting a Chihuahua

Measure chest girth and back length, and expect to need XS or XXS. Weight is a poor guide at this size because a 4lb and a 7lb chihuahua can be a size apart. Leg openings matter: too narrow and the dog will refuse to walk. Compare both measurements against the size chart on the individual product page, and size up if the dog falls between two.

They genuinely feel cold

Chihuahuas shiver more than any other breed for real reasons: minimal body fat, a thin coat and a very high surface-area-to-mass ratio. Indoor sweaters are not decorative for this breed in a cool house. Smooth-coat chihuahuas feel it more than long-coats.
